Today’s Reading - Mark 1:29-34

Thought:

How amazing it must have been to witness the healing of those who were sick and suffering as, over and over again, Jesus demonstrated His power over the physical world. So often, many would flock to wherever He was to see these amazing miracles performed and, perhaps, to have their own infirmities taken away. It was an infallible proof, not only of Jesus’ power, but also, of His compassion and mercy. But do you realize that we are the recipients of an even greater healing and an even more amazing demonstration of Jesus’ power, compassion, and mercy? Jesus came to bring healing to a world that had been ravaged by the disease of sin, and He brought with Him the only cure — His atoning blood. Through the sacrifice of Christ, and only through that sacrifice, we can find cleansing, healing, and salvation. As incredible as the physical healings performed by Jesus were, they cannot compare to the spiritual healing that we have through Christ. “Thanks be to God for His inexpressible gift!” (2 Corinthians 9:15).
