Black text reading 'Jesus Is The Subject...' over a painted beige cross on a light beige background.

(Old Testament Prophecy - Psalm 69:21)

“But instead, they give me poison for food; they offer me sour wine for my
thirst.”

(Fulfilled in Jesus - John 19:29)

“A jar of sour wine was sitting there, so they soaked a sponge in it, put it
on a hyssop branch, and held it up to his lips.”

Thought:
Chased through the wilderness and finally captured, David needs a little
kindness from his captors. Hanging on a cross in the hot Judean sun, Jesus asks for a
drink. Neither receives mercy from his enemies but is tortured even more. The method
and length of time for crucifixion would cause unimaginable thirst.

Prayer:
Lord, may I be reminded that even though the circumstances of life can often
put a sour taste in my mouth, I will taste and see that You are good. I am grateful that
Your thirst for me was so great that nothing but Your sacrifice could satisfy that thirst.
Thank You! Amen.
