(Old Testament Prophecy - Psalm 109:1-4)

“O God, whom I praise, don’t stand silent and aloof while the wicked
slander me and tell lies about me. They surround me with hateful words and fight
against me for no reason. I love them, but they try to destroy me with accusations
even as I am praying for them!”

(Fulfilled in Jesus - Luke 23:34)

“Jesus said, ‘Father, forgive them, for they don’t know what they are
doing.’ And the soldiers gambled for his clothes by throwing dice.”

Thought:
King David was tortured by his enemies, and like the rest of us would, he asked
God to punish them. But not Jesus. With some of His last words, the Savior begged
God to forgive His torturers, to forgive us. Only the Spirit of God can offer prayer for
such perpetrators.

Prayer:
Lord, the thought that You continually love me and pray for me by interceding
with the Holy Spirit, comforts me in unexplainable ways. Why do I ever enter into that
place of fear that causes me to act and react in ways that are not pleasing to You? You
have sent Your Holy Spirit to me. I ask that You continue to pray for me that I will love
You and others through the power of Your Spirit. May I become all that You purpose for
me to become! Amen.
