JESUS DIED

(Old Testament Prophecy - Psalm 22:14-15)

“My life is poured out like water, and all my bones are out of joint. My heart is like wax, melting within me. My strength has dried up like sun baked clay. My tongue sticks to the roof of my mouth. You have laid me in the dust and left me for dead.”

(Fulfilled in Jesus - Mark 15:44-45)

“Pilate couldn’t believe that Jesus was already dead, so he called for the Roman officer and asked if he had died yet. The officer confirmed that Jesus was dead, so Pilate told Joseph he could have the body.”

Thought:

David was using imagery to describe his pain and fatigue during war, but Jesus literally experienced these things. Water poured from His side, His joints separated after hours of hanging, His heart was encased in fluid as it tried to beat, He was exhausted by scourging, and He was impossibly thirsty.

Prayer:

Dear Jesus, You completely overwhelm me as I cannot comprehend such a love as Yours, proven in what You did for me. Forgive me for all the times that I have taken such a sacrifice for granted, for the times I chose to walk by sight rather than faith. I pray this day that You begin a new work in me and help me to walk completely by faith, for I know that is pleasing to You. Amen.
