BURIED IN A BORROWED TOMB
(Old Testament Prophecy - Isaiah 53:9)
“He had done no wrong and had never deceived anyone. But he was buried like a criminal; he was put in a rich man’s grave.”
(Fulfilled in Jesus - Matthew 27:57-60)
“As evening approached, Joseph, a rich man from Arimathea who had become a follower of Jesus, went to Pilate and asked for Jesus’ body. And Pilate issued an order to release it to him. Joseph took the body and wrapped it in a long sheet of clean linen cloth. He placed it in his own new tomb, which had been carved out of the rock. Then he rolled a great stone across the entrance and left.”
Thought:
Joseph of Arimathea had become a disciple of Jesus. He was hon owing Jesus the only way he knew how; little did Joseph know that three days later Jesus’ body wouldn’t need a tomb anymore!
Prayer:
Jesus, Eternal One, You suffered the disgrace of a horrible public death; like Joseph, I want to offer You what I have, but nothing I have is worthy of You! But You, in Your great love for me, simply reach out Your hand to me and say, “Child, you are all I want and I want to give you a life more abundant.” Amen.
