BETRAYAL OF JESUS
(Old Testament Prophecy - Psalm 41:9)
“Even my best friend, the one I trusted completely, the one who shared my food, has turned against me.”
(Fulfilled in Jesus - John 13:26)
“Jesus responded, ‘It is the one to whom I give the bread I dip in the bowl.’ And when he had dipped it, he gave it to Judas, son of Simon Iscariot.”
(Fulfilled in Jesus - Matthew 26:48-50)
“The traitor, Judas, had given them a prearranged signal: ‘You will know which one to arrest when I greet him with a kiss.’ So Judas came straight to Jesus. ‘Greetings, Rabbi!’ He exclaimed and gave him a kiss. Jesus said, ‘My friend, go ahead and do what you have come for.’ Then the others grabbed Jesus and arrested him.”
Thought:
Hundreds of years before Judas betrayed Jesus, the prophecy referred to the betrayer as “best friend” and then when Jesus spoke to Judas directly, he addressed Judas as “my friend.”
Prayer:
Father, forgive me for the many times I have betrayed You. Help me to remain faithful to You always. Living on the resurrection side of the cross helps me to know more fully God’s love story. Amen.
