JESUS’ SCOURGING

(Old Testament Prophecy - Isaiah 50:5-6)

“The Sovereign Lord has spoken to me, and I have listened, I have not rebelled or turned away. I offered my back to those who beat me and my cheeks to those who pulled out my beard. I did not hide my face from mockery and spitting.”

(Fulfilled in Jesus - Matthew 27: 26 & 30)

“So Pilate released Barrabas to them. He ordered Jesus flogged with a lead-tipped whip, then turned him over to the Roman soldiers to be crucified…”

“And they spit on him and grabbed the stick and struck him on the head with it.”

Thought:

God, who was, who is, and who will always be, knows the end from the beginning and He revealed through Isaiah centuries before Jesus’ trial almost the exact details of the beating, the scourging, and the humiliation Jesus would go through.

Prayer:

Jesus, Your wounds have healed me. I am unworthy of Your love and redemption, but You have never stopped pursuing me. Thank You for suffering for me and fulfilling Your promise. Please help me to remember daily Your death on the cross, so that I may share with others the sacrifice You made. Amen.
