SOLDIERS GAMBLED FOR JESUS’ CLOTHING
(Old Testament Prophecy - Psalm 22:18)
“They divided my garments among themselves and throw dice for my clothing.”
(Fulfilled In Jesus - John 19:24)
“So they said, ‘Rather than tearing it apart, let’s throw dice for it.’ This fulfilled the Scripture that says, ‘They divided my garments among themselves and threw dice for my clothing.’ So that is what they did.”
Thought:
In David’s time, as well as in Jesus’, nakedness indicated poverty and servitude. God’s greatest king of Israel and His only Son both needed to experience the worst of humanity before they could unite Israel and save humanity, respectively.
Prayer:
Lord, these great revelations still amaze me! I know You have risen, and I know You are King of kings and Lord of lords; but oh, how these verses strengthen my faith. For You told exactly what would happen hundreds of years before it happened. Only an all-knowing God could do such a thing. You are the great “I AM,” Creator and Sustainer of all. Amen.
