MAKING SARCASTIC REMARKS AT HIM
(Old Testament Prophecy - Psalm 22:8)
“Is this the one who relies on the Lord? Then let the Lord save him! If the Lord loves him so much, let the Lord rescue Him!”
(Fulfilled in Jesus - Matthew 27:40-43)
“Look at you now! They yelled at him. You said you were going to destroy the Temple and rebuild it in three days. Well then, if you are the Son of God, save yourself and come down from the cross! The leading priests, the teachers of religious law, and the elders also mocked Jesus. He saved others, they scoffed, but he can’t save himself! So he is the king of Israel is he? Let him come down from the cross right now and we will believe in him! He trusted God, so let God rescue him now if he wants him! For He said, I am the Son of God.’”
Thought:
Amazingly, so many people saw Jesus perform miracle after miracle, and yet they couldn’t comprehend God’s plan to redeem humanity and return them to His family. Instead Of asking for an explanation of Jesus’ crucifixion, the people taunted what they didn’t understand.
Prayer:
Dear Jesus, I confess that when I read these words my heart leaps, for I know that You are the beloved Son of God who loves me so much that You took my place of just punishment. I smile in my heart at the thought that, yes, the Eternal One, God of heaven and earth, did rescue You, His Anointed Son, and the reason was so You could rescue me! Oh happy day it truly is; for I am rescued, redeemed, and living in communion with the KING of kings and the LORD of lords! Amen.
