TENDER AND LOVING SHEPHERD

(Old Testament Prophecy - Isaiah 40:11)

“He will feed his flock like a shepherd. He will carry the lambs in his arms, holding them close to his heart. He will gently lead the mother sheep with their young.”

(Fulfilled in Jesus - John 10:2-4)

“For a shepherd enters through the gate. The gatekeeper opens the gate for him, and the sheep hear his voice and come to him. He calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. After he has gathered his own flock, he walks ahead of them, and they follow him because they recognize his voice.”

Thought:

Isaiah was inspired by the Spirit of God to explain how the coming Messiah, Jesus, would lead and care for people: as a shepherd leads and cares for his sheep.

Prayer:

Jesus, on my own I am like a defenseless sheep, and I tend to wander. You are my Protector and Savior. Thank You that You have allowed me to know Your voice. Thank You that You have led me out of exile by Your death on the cross and that you rescued me. Please continue to guide me and protect me. Amen.
