“Jesus Is The Subject…”

For the last 30 years or so, the mantra of our church, Johnson First Church of God has been “Jesus Is the Subject…”  We have printed that phrase in our bulletin every week and we have tried to make sure that Jesus is the focus of all of our efforts and ministries of our church.

So, it only seemed right, as we have begun a new era at our church with the new church app and we have the capability to have a church blog, that we would use the title “Jesus Is the Subject…” for that blog. I will share with you daily devotionals that have to do with the life & ministry of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

As we begin this blog, I’m going to share with you a 40-day adventure called “Jesus Revealed…”  These daily episodes will be 40 “messianic prophesies” that were written hundreds of years before Jesus was born. There are hundreds of messianic prophesies in the Bible. A prophecy describes a “prediction of the future, made under divine inspiration” or a “revelation of God. So, a messianic prophecy is a prediction about a “coming Messiah.”

The 39 books that make up the Old Testament of the Bible were written between 1450 - 430 B.C. They contain hundreds of prophesies about the Messiah who would arrive years later. The Messiah would come to deliver, save, and fulfill the promises made to the Jewish people and to all believers. These promises and prophesies also said that the Messiah would come to save all nations.

Each of the 40 days will begin with an Old Testament prophecy, then a New Testament scripture how Jesus fulfills that prophecy, followed by a short thought and a prayer. All Scriptures will be from the New Living Translation of the Bible. It is my prayer that this beginning 40-day adventure will bring us all closer to the Lord and strengthen our faith.
